The SubDivision round up some of some of dubstep’s heaviest and dirtiest mercenaries for the latest Paradise Lost offering of 4 remixes on the Interpretazioni EP.
Roguestar starts things off with what can only be considered an epic remix of an already epic track, Devil’s Kiss. Full throttle from the start and straddling the line between dubstep and breakstep, this track will appeal to anyone needing to destroy the floor at 3AM.
Lonewolf goes dirt for his remix of The Messenger, bringing the heat with his notorious filthy style, incorporating heavy synths with nasty breaks.
On the flip, Djunya takes things to the dark side of dub, with his re-take on the bizzarely spacey Elephant Walk. Currently a favorite of DJs pushing the deeper sounds, Djunya brings in heavy reverbs, 8-bit stabs, and his trademark bassline business to produce a brilliant and complex sound.
Vesicle round off the release with what might be their heaviest production yet on the remix of The Rose.
Junglist vibes and bass terrorism combine to produce devastating material showing off the impressive skills of these up-and-comers from Finland. With something for everyone on this release, Paradise Lost is going from strength to strength.
To celebrate the 4th annual Community Skratch Games, we’ve got 3 new releases from the CSM stable…
DJ Blood1 serves up a heavy dose of his works, both old and new, from slo-mo boom bap beats to digital slices of heavy electronics, all topped off with his signature razor sharp cuts.
The legend that is Uncle Lew finally drops his long awaited “The Change Of Plan EP”, an evocative collection of modern electronic hiphop excursions. This is merely a taster of what is to come from this producer and wax molester extraordinaire.
And last, but very much not least, is the second installment of Community Skratch Music, co-ordinated and compiled by Jimmy Penguin. Featuring tracks from Disscuss, Neil Buchanan, Merrylegs, Tweek, Mikey Fingers, MyNameIsJohn, Clockwork, Deviant & Naive Ted, Eoin Smith, DJ Lenar, Connah Jay, Fidel Cutstro and of course the Penguin himself, the compilation examines the current state of turntable based music creation with a broad overview encompassing many styles and many parts of the globe. Essential listening if ya fancy that sort of thing……
We have been waiting an awfully long time for an album by the cryptically original dynamite duo of Doctor Blam and Professor Plato, but following a bolt all doors weekend of intense scratching and philosophy, we are well on our way to hearing it.
The Norwegian natives brought their unique flavours to London to record the album alongside NozL Recordings pair, Maroon and Lone Wolf. There were some sizzling cuts laid down and we just cannot wait until it finally hits the vinyl cutting room!!!
Lone Wolf buzzed about very conspicuously recording footage of the long weekend and has pieced it together to form a mini documentary for your enjoyment for the now and as a mouth watering taster of what will be powering it’s way into record shops in mid 2010!
Help us try and push the video by pasting the embedded links on your forums and sites and telling your chums and aunty Ethel to watch it so they can understand why we all like skratching so much!
We don’t think we’ve heard many more sincere ways to describe the way in which we like scratching than these two incredible guys have shown in the film.
At long last I can confirm that recording process for the Blam and Plato album is about to begin. So in fact it hasn’t yet begun. But nevertheless the boys will be travelling from Norway to the UK to work with Lone Wolf and Maroon on producing their future masterpiece!
The ALL NEW beats will be a trademark mix of heavy hitting Plato bangers alongside Blam’s syncopated fury. Thrown into the mix too will be some exclusive rhythms from Lone Wolf.
We expect the release to be available late Spring 2010, but as always this years releases will get their premier at the Community Skratch Games in Galway (Eire) between the 1st and 4th April 2010. yet another reason why this years festivities are not to be missed!
In the meantime, follow our twitter feed for photos and updates on the recording process.
Well, if you can show me anyone with a better balance of Mad-As-Owt and Musical Genius I will eat my arse. Deviant & Naive Ted releases a blinder on Alphabetset, but don’t take my word for it.
“Plug-ins, VSTs, MIDI-controllers, laptops. All lovely little toys that make
modern music-making a whole heap easier and cleaner, but it ain’t worth squat
unless the person making the music has something important to say in the first
place. Thus, it’s refreshing to see someone take the bumpier road towards composition
these days, not content to let a computer do all the hard work. Enter Deviant/Naive Ted,
one of this soil’s truest veterans of all things turntable and scratch related,
who drops his debut 7” this November on Dublin’s mighty Alphabet Set label.
Relying on a stack of obscure prog and jazz records, some battered turntables and
a good ol’ fashioned warped imagination, Deviant may just have churned out the most
interesting leftfield hiphop record this year. And that’s not restricted to Ireland.
While current trends in the field have producers whacking off to their J-Dilla shrines
and then banging out anonymous off-time beats, this release has intense dedication and
individual eccentricity slapped all over it. A bit like the old tales told by the wandering
blues-man, only strapped with a Vestax deck instead of a trusty ol’ six string.
There’s a definite message being put across, it’s just that its delivered through the
cut-up samples and words of his heroes from yesterday and beyond. This 200 word-limit
review isn’t going to do it enough justice, but copping the wax and actually listening to it will.
The bridge says it all.
“Look at the stillness…look at the quiet…look at the discipline…look at the BEAUTY.“
or see for yourself. Below is the video for Deviant -- “Shoes Not Not” taken from this 7″
