We don’t really do the iTunes thing but fear not because Deviant & Naive Ted’s “Send In The Hounds” 12inch is now available at the click of a button below, delivered to your door within a few days. Living in the future is amazing.
It’s that time again, the third installment of Community Skratch Music, compiled as always by the Penguin that is Jimmy. Featuring tracks from regular contributors such as Deviant & Naive Ted, Clockwork, Tweek, Mikey Fingers, Uncle Lew, MyNameIsJohn and the Penguin himself as well as newer members of the collective, HairyBo and MusSck. The CD will be available at all CSG events this weekend.
MusSck has been making noise for some time now, peddling his glitched out spasmic movements for the here and now. Check it before brother blows up, you can say you knew him before he got famous…..

The 5th annual Community Skratch Games begin at 8pm, Thursday, April 21st @ 126 Gallery, Queen Street, Galway.
Performances from
Cut Man Doo & Damien Chmielix
Deviant
Eoin Smith
plus improvised performance with Sebi and the Community Skratch Players.
The opening night of CSG 2011 also serves as the launch night for the new Community Skratch Music 12″, Deviant & Naive Ted’s folk inspired skratch music, “Send In The Hounds”. Deviant shall be performing a showcase of these tracks as well as a selection of new and old compositions. He will be joined by special guest Sebi C, who also appears on the vinyl release. The video for their previous collaboration “Leave It At That” is viewable here.
Dublin based sound sculptor Eoin Smith will be explaining his process of production prior to his experimental live set. Eoin shapes abstract sounds and visuals via turntable manipulation, “incorporating turntable technology into the realm of sonic art in both composition and performance.” You can hear Eoin speak about his interactive turntable installation for Culture Night 2010 here.
Polish tape manipulator Cut Man Doo has gained a cult following worldwide for his online videos. He is best known for his skilful manipulation of reel to reel tape, emulating vinyl skratches in real time. He will be ably assisted in a freestyle showcase by Damien Chmielix on turntables. Check out Cut Man Doo’s electro freestyle on tape here.
Community Skratch Players is a loose bunch of Galway based musicians and DJs who occasionally perform improvised concerts and on this night will feature musicians Tony Higgins, Andrew Madec and Simon Kenny, alongside DJs Jimmy Penguin, Tweek and Mikey Fingers and the previously mentioned acts. A clip of last years show closing improv, broadcast and streamed live on WFMU New Jersey, can be viewed here and the whole show is still streaming from the WFMU archive here.
Deviant & Naive Ted make skratch music. Unadulterated by synthesizers, untouched by guitars, not a delay pedal in sight. Records and hands. Turntable and mixer. Loop pedal and multi-tracker. Why? They’re not sure.
Building upon the success of last years Alphabet Set 7″ and the recent split 7″ with C!ties on StressDebtChestPains, “Send In The Hounds” is another collection of dusty musings from the foggy corner of (sur)reality. Traditional Irish folk music presents the body for dissection. Bled. Cut up. Cured. Smoked.
From the bog at Cloonakilleg. Outside looking in. He’s thinking Wu-Tang. The other’s thinking Joe Heaney.
“Send In The Hounds” will be released on 12″ vinyl April 21st at the 5th annual Community Skratch Games and digitally a month after.

Aw yeah, later than expected but sure you’ll have that when running an international skratch empire from a skip in deepest darkest Limerick.
Anyway….

The Community Skratch Podcast aims to showcase the myriad styles and tastes of our associated artists. It won’t be regular. In any way. When we get good shit, we’ll post it.
First up, Mikey Fingers, the famed dust aficionado, banjo bowzy and speed racer.
An all wax mix of psychedelia, broke beats and folk freakery, misty-eyed nostalgia and the occasional nauseous time signature.
Nice.
Fingers got soul.
