New Community Skratch Music Release [CSM020]

community skratch music & equilibrium presents:
dj troubledsoul & hidden id – a hidden era made clearer
( the lost tapes ) nov 1991 – may 1992

( Troubledsoul ) ” I thought this music was lost forever, until having
recently re established a connection with an old Pen Pal and founding
member of environmentalist Hip-Hop crew Three Tree Posse in
Switzerland that is. He had all the songs on various tapes in his
attic. I did all the music with one Turntable, Vinyl and a Tascam four
track tape recorder using “punch in” and pause button techniques
( no samplers ) to create loops and over dubs. The lyrics were all recorded through a pair of Headphones. We sent the tapes to a few labels and got a great response namely from the UK´s Koldsweat Records and Music Of Life. We played a few concerts, then MC BFast turned to the burgeoning Belfast
Club scene as an MC, a few Months later my other Turntable arrived, so
I dipped into a seven year scratch hiatus, before returning to Music
again. I hope you enjoy this small piece of Irish Hip-Hop Archeology
as much as I have reliving it. ”

Stig Of The Dump new album

Stig Of The Dump, long time friend of NozL Recordings and Grandeurs Of Delusion collaborator announced today the release of his new full-length album in digital format at bandcamp.com.
The album, due for full CD release on Lewis Recordings in October, marks a new exciting direction for Stig’s sound. The title “mood swings” is a hint to what to expect. Each track lifts the lid on another one of Stig’s multiple personalities. From the Street Fighter influenced lead single “I Got Game”, double time club banger (and Jehst produced) “Muddy Funkster”, through to the more traditional hiphop of “Big City Blues” and venom soaked “Hater”- Every track has it’s own identity. With this LP Stig demonstrates what everyone who has seen him live already knows- Stig is a BADMAN!!

Its available now exclusively at bandcamp:

SCUNGA TIME

To promote the imminent release of “Beauty / Shoes Not Not” (official launch Dec 18th), Deviant drops the “Scunga Time – A Tribute To Flying Buttresses” EP, for free, for you.

Swirling cries echo through the thick air. Cracked. Broken. Staggering. The rotten fruits of decades spent under the stairs, cradling and caressing charity shop vinyl. Alienation abounds. Tis the way. No ones and no zeros. Played. Handmade. The taste of Cloonakilleg bog, the touch of Brooklyn zoo. Ghosts. Dusted. Done.

Community Skratch Tour Roundup

Well, thats it – its all over for another year. The community Skratch Tour 2010 ended in Brighton this saturday, at what was one of the best events we’ve ever been to – the Community Skratch BBQ. Yet again the Gladstone garden was at capacity as everyone climbed onto the tables to catch a glimpse of the action.

Every year the atmosphere is incredible at this event having seen brilliant shows from Clockwork, Foly, Blak Randy , Jimmy Penguin and Deviant, Unemployed Superheroes, Grandeurs Of Delusion’s sizzling new line-up and the amazing Oslo Flow alongside Keita.

Unfortunately after a heavy night in Bristol, we lost Mikey Fingers and Tweek along the way. Although we understand that they both enjoyed themselves.

This year’s BBQ was hosted by Enlish who was on fire all afternoon despite not having been to bed for 2 days. One of the great things about these events is that people come from all over to get involved. As well as performers from Ireland, Canada, Norway, UK and even Japan(!), people travelled for hours to be a part of the crowd.

We spoke to people from Ireland (Gem), Leeds (Mike-L), Guernsey, Norfolk, Germany, and London at the BBQ – and everyone left knowing the journey had been worth their while.

The highlight of the BBQ show for me was Blam and Plato. With a venue full of people sporting Oslo Flow shirts, their infectious natural funk was the perfect soundtrack as the sun went down. What they do is so unique and brilliant, everyone in the venue could feel they were witnessing something incredible.

The past month of shows has been amazing. We have all met some brilliant and achingly generous people from across the world. At times it was very hard work. A lot of travelling with very little sleep (to be fair that was our own fault) and a lot of intoxicants at times took its toll.

But the most incredible thing about these shows is that the standard of talent, musicianship and people make it all worth while. As Blam (@daggaless) said himself “There was some serious business going on in Brighton that day – something is changing” – and I can’t wait to be involved in whats coming next.
